The Minister of Planning and National Development of the Republic of Somaliland Hon. Kaltun Sh. Hassan Abdi, chaired the meeting of the Somaliland Development Fund’s top organ (the SDF Steering Committee), which was held at the Ambassador Hotel, Hargeisa.
This quarterly meeting that is usually held once every three months discusses the projects funded by the SDF, their progress, existing challenges, and future plans.
During the meeting, briefs were heard from officials working on the implementation of the projects, and ways and means to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of development programs were floated.
The meeting also discussed the importance of cooperation between the Somaliland government and donors, to ensure the development goals of the SDF, and accelerate projects that benefit the community.
The committee consists of representatives of the countries affiliated to the Somaliland Development Fund (SDF) and members of the Somaliland government, in particular the Minister of Planning and National Development, Hon. Kaltun Sh. Hassan Abdi and the Minister of Finance of Somaliland Hon. Abdillahi Mohamed Hassan, as well as the Minister of Livestock of Somaliland, Hon. Omar Shuayb Mohamed, the Minister of Fisheries Hon. Ali Jama Buured, and the Manager of the Somaliland Road Development Agency Mr. Mohamed Farah Abdi.
The Somaliland Development Fund (SDF) is a financial grant to support the government of Somaliland to implement programs to promote the development of Somaliland that are in line with the National Development Plan programmes.
The fund is co-financed by the countries of the United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands.
