President changes top security army and police chiefs

The President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro has made major changes in the national security  by naming a youthful commander to lead the intended reformation and restructuring of the military forces that he has repeatedly pledged to do.

These changes come a day after the President had just subsequently announced substantial remunerations increases to the security services personnel.

The Head of State named Brigadier General Nemaan Yusuf Osman Gahnuug to henceforth become the new Chief of the Defense forces.

At the same time the President named Brigadier General Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan Allaale to become the new Somaliland Police Services chief.

According to a press release from the Presidency, the President further appointed the former commanders to become presidential advisors on the fields of the dockets they formally held.

The Presidential Decree red s follows:-

“Having considered: The importance of the various National Forces, National sovereign independence, defense, protection and ensuring internal security, saving and safeguarding the lives and property of the members of the public, respecting fundamental freedoms and executing the adherence of the Constitution and the Laws of the Republic of Somaliland;

“Having been satisfied with: Their knowledge, ability, dedication and work experience, and that they can handle the duties and responsibilities arising from these positions;

“Having conducted: Consultation;

“I have decided to appoint the following officers to the post of chief commanders of the respective forces:

  1. That Brigadier General Nemaan Yusuf Osman Gaahnuug be the Commander of the National Army of the Republic of Somaliland.
  2. That Brigadier General Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan Allaale (Abdi Deere) be the Commander of the Police Force of the Republic of Somaliland.
  3. That Major General Nuuh Ismail Taani be the Advisor to the President on the National Army affairs of the Republic of Somaliland.
  4. That Brigadier General, Mohamed Adan Saqadi, be the Advisor to the President on the national Police Force affairs of the Republic of Somaliland.” END.
