I expect the elections to usher in more progress and unity, says President Bihi as he inaugurates Dimbiriyaale water dam

He called for tolerance and peaceful tranquility urging leaders to use words of wisdom in promoting and fostering solidarity

The President of Somaliland H.E. Musa Bihi Abdi, has said that the election is expected to be held soon in the country and usher in progressive general development and prosperity for the nation.

The Head of State expressed the sentiments as he inaugurated a large water dam at Dimbiriyaale, a location not far south of Hargeisa city.

He noted that as for the choice of elective candidates, paramount importance is given to the policies and plans they envision, come up with, and present to the electorate.

He called for tolerance and tranquility urging leaders to use words of wisdom in fostering peaceful tranquility and unity amongst the populaces.

He decried the tribal politics that border on clannish whims terming it as retrogressive and potentially harmful to development since it perpetrates divisions amongst the members of the communities.

While noting that the people of Somaliland were of the same language and culture, the president gave example of other countries in Africa who live together and elect leaders from other communities with different cultures and languages. He gave examples of our neighbours Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya as being such countries.

The President said that his administration had set up numerous dams in the nation and that the state was privy of the needs of its people.

He stated that the Dimbiriyaale dam will go a long way in serving the people and livestock of the area quite well.

He said, “It is an honor and a pleasure for me to inaugurate this big water dam here in Dimbiriyaale and I congratulate the residents for this to be realized here”.

He urged that as the campaigns go on the people should avoid rhetoric words that may be vitriolic and antagonistic such that peaceful elections may be realized.

The area residents hilariously welcomed the President while showing their support for the government in implementing direly needed projects in the area.

The event was attended by members of the cabinet, members of parliament, officials of KULMIYE party, traditional leaders, politicians and other leaders, some of whom made various speeches.

They emphasized the importance of the new water dam for the community, and underlined that it has eliminated the need for water in the area.

Senator Oday Haji Abdi-warabe, MP Abdinasir Yusuf Osman Kodax, Manager of the Airport Authority, Mr. Omar Abdilahi Adan, Deputy Chairman of the National Contracts Committee, Mr. Abdiasis Cagoweyne and the Governor of Marodi-jeh, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Aalin (Timbero) ) were notable speakers who thanked the government for the efforts made by the government to ensure that the Dhimbiriyale community has enough water to overcome the long-term shortages, noting that the government has made efforts in all aspects of health and education in the area.

The Ministers of Planning and National Development, Hon. Ahmed Mohamed Diriye (Toorno) and Minister of Water Development Hon. Suleiman Yusuf Ali Koore who spoke on the occasion, echoed similar words.
