Somaliland election campaign has entered its second round of official campaigning with the Barwaqo political organization fervently urging voters to vote for it such that it becomes an official party in its final stretch of campaigning.

Leading the onslaught in the soliciting for votes across the country was the national chair Mr. Ali Hussein Beegsi who urged the members of public to come out in large numbers and vote for it.

He particularly appealed to residents of Awdal region to make sure that their province has an official political party by voting for it en-masse.

He lamented that time to play second fiddle in the political equation should be over hence they ought to formidably flex their muscles through their numbers.

Its officials spoke at length in various fora across the country as they spelt out the policies of the organization to the masses.

They reminded the audiences to safeguard their voting cards and make sure they make it as “their main weapon” on the day of voting.

It is worth mentioning that according to the country’s constitution there ought to be only three official political parties operating in the country at any one time with the mandate being a period of ten years.

With the ruling party KULMIYE, WADDANI and UCID being the existing parties, there are 7 other organizations in the elections out to unseat them.

The campaigns are charted in a manner that is closely monitored and regulated such that this year’s elections would see the political organizations have two days each to campaign while the parties will have three for themselves.

The upcoming elections to be held in a couple of weeks will be for both the presidential and political parties.

The three official parties will be fielding their candidates which would see the incumbent President Musa Bihi Abdi being challenged by Abdirahman Irro of WADDANI and Feisal Ali of UCID, a replay of the 2017 elections.
