The minister of the Ministry of Cultural Information and National Guidance of Somaliland Hon. Suleiman Yusuf Ali (Koore) said that the government succeeded in reviving the main SW radio station that reached the whole country and beyond and succeeded in fixing it.
He said that it is now working well, and that various programs are being prepared for infotainments can be listened to in the countries of the Middle East and Africa.
“We have put a lot of effort and effort into reviving the old main radio station, and we are following up on all the probable troubleshooting entailed”, he said. Noting that it is now on air and a wide range of pragrammes being in production, the minister said that it will be fully operational within a fortnight.
He said that where as the local FM stations are covered in all regions of the country, the Quran M station is working 24hrs.
The minister also said that the national television has made significant progress, and at the same time, its viewership has increased significantly compared to the previous seasons, both inside and outside the country.
On the other hand, he pointed that there has been an increase in the knowledge of journalists working in the government media, saying that the Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA) is working to improve the knowledge of different media in the country.
The minister talked on these developments when he appeared before the Standing Committee of the Somaliland Senate over the week.
