The Mayor of Hargeisa Cllr. Abdikarim Ahmed Mooge, inaugurated the first phase of direly needed installations of traffic lights in major busy street junctions, on the road connecting the CID headquarters, the first bridge and the lower market.
Mayor Abdikarim likewise announced that a review will be made of the road-lanes system and the traffic directions.
He said that all roads will be upgraded in the city of Hargeisa.
He said. “We promise the community of the capital city that Hargeisa will soon road traffic lights being installed in all major junctions and that review would be made on the road-lane systems and directions of flow of the traffic”.
He lauded the company that made the installations as having been diligent and timely hence pledged that all the city roads will be aptly upgraded or built.
The commander of the western zone of the traffic police law enforcement said that anyone who violates the new road rules will be dealt with accordingly.
He said. “We are ready to uphold the law and we are instructing the drivers not to violate the traffic lights. If they jump the lights they will be held accountable and pulled over”.
