The chairman of Somaliland National Electoral Commission (SLNEC) Mr. Muse Hassan Yusuf who held a press briefing in his office in Hargeisa stated the first phase of the registration process had ended
Addressing members of the press he revealed that the first phase of the registration process has been completed. He said all polling stations have returned their registration forms and other electoral materials to the electoral body headquarters in Hargeisa.
He confirmed that the first phase was scheduled for 15 days from the date of commencement of the national voters registration exercise which started on 28th December 2022.
Somaliland Nationa Electoral Commission boss said “ The second phase of the voters registrations starts earnestly. The voters registration process was slated to take 30 days, hence the second phase starts earnestly. I call upon all voters who haven’t been registered to go to the polling stations and take their voters card and national identification cards as soon as possible.”
He thanked all electoral staff who have been working across the country for their noble endeavour. The electoral body chief congratulated Somaliland citizens who had registered as voters for their patriotism.
The electoral chief reminded Somaliland nationals who had reached the age for acquisition of national identity and voters card to register at the polling centers.
