Brigadier General Mahad Cambaashe, the commander of the Somaliland army in the Sool area, has warned the people who he said want to disrupt the city of Lasanood, to leave the city, saying that the army will not leave the Sool region.

Cambaashe added that the Somaliland Military Force is sufficient to maintain peace, law and order.
“As far as I can understand, the national army has not left (the region) and will not leave.

Somaliland troops began to withdraw from the town of Lasanod on Thursday morning, after the elders and the regional administration agreed, after two weeks of protests.

He warned that should anarchy persist in Lasanod, the Somaliland army will not hesitate to return to the city to protect the lives and property of the people.

Cambaashe said that the town of Lasanood is controlled by the Somaliland army, and before the Somaliland administration came to the region, there were acts of insecurity and communal conflicts.

He also sent his condolences to those who died in the violence in Lasaanod. However, he argued that Somaliland’s military has restrained itself, and that hundreds of casualties can be caused if the army was “against society.”
