The Deputy minister of information, culture and national guidance Mr.Said Hassan Habane has called on Somaliland citizens to register for the upcoming elections. The deputy information minister stated this in a press conference he held at his office in Hargeisa.
“The country is preparing to go elections soon. As you are all aware the international community respects our country because we have a reputation of holding free and fair elections. The registration exercise of voters will kick start on 28th December 2022 hence I call upon all Somaliland citizens who have not yet registered to go to polling stations and register.”
Deputy minister of information confirmed that those who had not yet registered are eligible, those who had misplaced their voters cards and those who had reached age allowed by the constitution for registrations should register.
He stated that it was a constitutional right of all Somaliland citizens to register as voters.
“I call upon all Somaliland nationals in every village, district or region to register for the upcoming elections. The registration as a voter will give you power to elect the leaders of your choice.”
