Believe it to be a school for over a hundred trying to catch-up with the rest of humanity in search of education. The pupils, teachers and, of course the area community, of Geed-darayle school in Qulujeed district are students in a dire need and a dire situation than all the
students of Somaliland schools given their plight.
Barely twenty kilometres from Borama, Geed-Darayle School which is located in Qulujeed district of Awdal region has the students study in twig structures thatched haphazardly with rags and dry grass hence does not prevent strong winds, rain or the scorching sun.
These students, who number more than a hundred students, aspire to excel and achieve success in their studies, just as others elsewhere. It is indeed a sight that can render one’s heart bleed with sadness just as one tearfully observes the hopeful efforts put up by both the
pupils and their teachers. They are surviving against all odds obstacles may render.
The plight of the school came to light owing to the governor of Awdal region Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Aalim a.k.a. Timbaro, and the regional education coordinator of the region Mr. Nouradin Musa Ali who pledged to have a normal school built at the place, something that has brought real hope to the area residents.
The officials said they are working to get the school a complete building and get normal services.
