THT-The President H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi has forwarded the new electoral Commission members to the House of Representatives for approval.
Statements issued from the presidential spokesperson’s office, read as follows: –
As you know, all members of the National Electoral Commission have resigned. Therefore, I am submitting here the seven members selected to be the new National Electoral Commission, in accordance with Article 15, Paragraph 4 of the General Electoral Law and Voter Registration, Act No. 91/2020 as members who meet the requirements for membership of the National Electoral Commission as set out in Article 14 of Law No. 91/2020.
Pursuant to Article 13, Paragraph 2 of the General Electoral Law and Voter Registration, Law No. 91/2020, the members of the National Electoral Commission are selected by the President of the Republic of Somaliland (3 members), the House of Elders (2 members), the registered political parties – WADDANI Party and UCID Party (2 members).
