THT-The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi, attended a grand ceremony marking the 31st anniversary of the Independence Day on May 18, at the Presidential Palace.
The event was attended by the Speakers of the both Houses of Parliament, senior officials, cabinet members, commanders of the national army, police, custodial corps, coast guard, immigration, fire force, officials from non-governmental organizations, guests of various levels from neighboring countries and other countries that are friends of Somaliland, diplomats of Taiwan, Ethiopia, Kenya, UAE, Turkey, delegation from Uganda, Djibouti and Kenya and countless guests invited.
a play and songs were performed at the event to show the value of this day to the Somaliland community, and to show the value of patriotism and love within the community.
The Minister of Interior, Mr. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, addressed the gathering, congratulating the Somaliland community on May 18th and their celebration of their nationhood and progress. Hon. Kahin stated that all events marked the independence of the Republic of #Somaliland took place peacefully throughout the country
The Speakers of the House of Elders and Representatives, Mr. Saleban Mohamud Aden and Mr. Abdirizak Khalif Ahmed, addressed the gathering, sincerely congratulating the people on the occasion of the return of independence on May 18th, and called on the community to continue their development, and work their togetherness.

The President spoke of the fact that the people of Somaliland are committed to celebrating their day wherever they are in the world, and added that Somaliland public, who are unrecognized, as a community, some of them refugees, have dedicated their time, resources and ideas to celebrating May 18th nationhood everywhere. This shows the patriotism and sacrifice of their fathers and grandfathers to build this nation and make it independent,” said President Muse Bihi Abdi.
Finally, President Muse Bihi Abdi had dinner with the invited guests at the venue.
