UCID Chairman Speaks on Understanding Patriotism

THT-Chairman of the opposition party UCID Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe said that the society is not yet ready for the values ​​of patriotism and how our culture of  rural and pastoralism has undermined the governance and democracy we have adopted and developed the legal system of the rule of law and the constitution.

Eng. Faisal, UCID Chairman was speaking at a gathering hosted by students of the New Generation University’s Hargeisa branch titled (the role of patriotism in the development and prosperity of the country).

Speaking about the misunderstanding of patriotism in society and that we are still tribally oriented and clannish.

“For thirty years we have been a nation-building country and  focused on institution building, we have not yet started patriotism building,” he said.

He decried, “The democracy we have adopted has been lost to our pastoralist culture, and everyone speaks for themselves. There is no hierarchy, no order, and yet we have a democracy. You have seen what our media airs. We backtracked the democracy we had adopted and the rule of law, and started adopting our countryside culture, and the culture.

all were same track!”He underpinned the fact that “we will not achieve true patriotism until we build the nation, and citizen recognizes the value of one’s country, and its obligations, and adheres to the rules of government rule”.
