THT: All campaigns for the Somaliland Parliamentary and local Councils elections 2021 have concluded.
This was informed by the National elections commission-NEC through a statement addressed to the three political parties of UCID, Kulmiye and Wadani.
“All political Campaigns end as today, Friday 28th May 2021, Friday” informed the electoral body, adding that this was in accordance with Election Campaign Schedule.
The six days three parties electioneering Timetable allocated each party 2 alternate days of exclusive nationwide campaigns.

Thus concluding on the 28th the schedule took effect on Monday the 23rd with opposition party UCID holding nationwide rallies.
The Somaliland liberal party which appealed for votes with a pledge to end “non productive talks with Somalia” held its second and last campaign on the 26th.
Following on the 24th was ruling Kulmiye party which launched its nationwide campaign at a rally officiated by its chairman cum Somaliland president Musa Bihi in Hargeisa.
The ruling party was again on the vote soliciting trail on the 27th which were covertly launched a day earlier when the focus turned east with President Bihi pitching tent in Berbera on the 26th.
From the Sahil regional capital, Berbera, the Kulmiye leadership’s launching pad for Toghdeer vote soliciting, the wagon moved to Burao for the ruling party’s electioneering were brought to an end by President Bihi on the 27th.
Third on the campaign trail was opposition Wadani party whose calendar started on Tuesday the 25th with nationwide rallies spearheaded by its chairman Abdirahman Irro.

To culminate quest for votes for its 82 candidates for parliament and 249 councillors Wadani was again on hand in a massive show of mighty all over Somaliland with focus in Hargeisa.

The first ever Somaliland joint local Councils and parliamentary elections will be held on the 31st May 2021 under supervision by NEC.
In the quest for the 82 seat house of representatives with the six regional electoral as constituencies each of the three parties wants a share of all thence a total of 246 candidates.
For the 249 seats in the 23 electoral districts there are a total of 747 aspirants sponsored evenly by UCID, Kulmiye and Wadani parties.
The combined total of 993 candidates in the Somaliland parliamentary and local councils 2021 Elections are after the over 1,200,000 votes to be cast at the 1642 polling stations set up and staffed nationwide by NEC.

To ascertain a free, fair and peaceful election exercise are over 900 local and international observers, while the Police force has seconded 7000 officers to NEC.
