THT-Erigavo:- The Minister of Energy and Minerals of the Republic of Somaliland Hon. Jama Mohamud Egal who is on a working visit to Sanaag region toured a solar power plant installation site in Erigavo.
His delegation was welcomed in Erigavo by Sanaag Governor Eng Ahmed Cisman Hassan, Erigavo Mayor Ismail Haji Nur and SEBCO Chairman Mohamud Ahmed Liban who gave details on the progress of the solar installation whose works is expected to be completed by the end of January.
The project will include solar panels, a daylight saving battery and power generators with state-of-the-art equipment.
Energy Coordinator in Sanaag Osman Omar Farah, speaking the site, said that in the near future people will be getting cheap electricity, hence “we would like to thank the Minister of Minerals Mr. Jama and company assigned installation task”.
Erigavo Mayor Ismail Haji Nur said they welcome the arrival of Minister Jama delegation, and Ministry of energy’s facilitation to its implementation.
The governor of Sanaag region, Eng. Ahmed Cisman Hassan noted that he was pleased with the arrival of the delegation and the ongoing work on solar power. .
The Minister of Energy, Mr. Jama M Cigaal, thanked the task-assigned company to the solar power project which is nearing its completion stage. He said that the project main aim was to providing safer and affordable electricity to Erigavo residents, come February 2021.
