Somaliland’s House of Representatives on Sunday tabled a second amendment to the Rape Law, which is in line with Islamic laws.
According to the Speaker Hon. Bashe Mohamed Farah, the Somaliland Rape and Sexual Offences Bill,” which criminalizes gender-based violence, and previously approved by the House of Representatives, has been referred back to the house after it was agreed it contains certain articles that were inconsistent with Islamic law should be reviewed.
The speaker of the House of Representatives added, “It is an amendment to the Somaliland Rape and Sexual Offences Bill, which has been brought into line with Sharia law. This law will be read by the committee on Home Affairs and Elections on Monday and debated on.
