The Minister of Information, Culture and National Guidance, Hon. Barkhad Batuun, has announced plans to replace the long-running Qur’anic Tafsir program broadcast by the National Media with a new, more modern and extended interpretation of the Holy Qur’an.
Minister Batuun said the move forms part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize and strengthen National Media programming, particularly programs dedicated to religion, education and public awareness.
“As a government, the President’s policy and that of the government is to promote and uphold the Book of Allah,” Minister Batuun said.
The announcement was made in the presence of Sheikh Mohamed Sheikh Omar Dirir, who has for many years presented the Quranic Tafsir program on Somaliland’s National Media.
Reflecting on the government’s renewed focus on religious programming, Minister Batuun described the commitment as a source of pride, saying:
“It is an honor that today both the radio and the government are committed to promoting and upholding the Book of Allah.”
The planned replacement of the Tafsir program marks a new phase in Somaliland’s National Media programming, with the government signaling an intention to provide more contemporary and longer-form religious content to the public.
