World Bank Launches High-Level SPRING Implementation Mission with Somaliland Finance Ministry

The Minister of State for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Ismail Mawlid Abdillahi, welcomed a high-level delegation from the World Bank to the Ministry’s headquarters as part of the SPRING Project Implementation Support Mission.

The Minister of State was joined by the Director General of the Ministry, Mohamed Hassan Salebaan, and the Head of the World Bank-funded SERP and SPRING Projects, Mahmoud Omar Hussein, during the reception for the visiting delegation.

The mission is aimed at reviewing the progress of the SPRING Project, evaluating achievements made so far, and finalizing the project’s annual work plan and priority activities for the coming implementation period.

The World Bank delegation was led by Sameer Goyal, the SPRING Project Team Leader, and included Binu Malhotra, a Procurement Specialist with the World Bank.

During their visit, the delegation will hold a series of technical meetings with officials from the Central Bank of Somaliland. The discussions will focus on accelerating the implementation of the SPRING Project, strengthening cooperation between the World Bank and Somaliland’s implementing institutions, and ensuring that project activities are delivered on schedule and in line with agreed objectives.

The visit underscores the continued partnership between the World Bank and the Government of Somaliland in advancing institutional reforms, improving public financial management, and supporting the successful delivery of development projects financed through the SPRING programme.
