Former Somaliland Ambassador to Kenya, Mohamed Barwani, has met with Hon. Abdikarim Meecaad, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Internal Affairs, Security and Defence of the Somaliland House of Representatives, in a meeting that combined discussions on governance, security, and the promotion of knowledge through literature.
The meeting took place at Hon. Abdikarim Meecaad’s office within the House of Representatives, where the two held wide-ranging and in-depth discussions on various subjects, including the themes and ideas explored in Barwani’s published books.
During the meeting, Hon. Abdikarim Meecaad received a number of books authored by Mohamed Barwani. While expressing his appreciation for the publications, the lawmaker announced that he would donate the collection to Sanaag University to help enrich its academic resources and make the books accessible to students and researchers.
The discussions between the former ambassador and the parliamentarian reportedly covered several chapters of the books in detail, reflecting a shared interest in the issues they address and their relevance to Somaliland’s development, governance, and public discourse.
The meeting highlighted the growing importance of promoting intellectual engagement between public officials and authors, while also underscoring the value of supporting higher education institutions through donations of educational materials.
Hon. Abdikarim Meecaad’s decision to donate the books to Sanaag University was welcomed as a meaningful contribution to expanding learning opportunities for students and strengthening the university’s library resources.
