Somaliland Strengthens Global Health Partnerships at International Summit in Taiwan

The Director General of the Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, led a high-level delegation to the Africa–Asia Pacific Health Innovation and Global Partnership Summit in Taipei, reaffirming Somaliland’s commitment to advancing healthcare through innovation, technology, and international collaboration.

The prestigious summit brought together health ministers, senior government officials, international experts, and development partners from across Africa and Asia to discuss strategies for strengthening global health cooperation, accelerating healthcare innovation, and leveraging cutting-edge technologies to improve the quality and accessibility of health services.

During the summit, Dr. Jama and his delegation held a series of productive bilateral meetings with senior officials from Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and representatives from participating countries. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in healthcare service delivery, capacity building for health professionals, and the provision of modern medical equipment to support Somaliland’s evolving healthcare system.

Addressing delegates at the summit, Dr. Jama presented an overview of the significant progress achieved in Somaliland’s health sector while outlining the country’s remaining healthcare challenges and strategic priorities.
