The Somaliland Ministry of Resettlement and Humanitarian Affairs, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), has welcomed a new group of Somaliland citizens who voluntarily returned from Sudan, reaffirming its commitment to supporting returning nationals and promoting safe migration.

The returnees arrived at Egal International Airport, where they were received by officials from the Ministry and IOM. Upon arrival, they were provided with registration services, a warm welcome, and psychosocial support aimed at helping them reintegrate into their communities and rebuild their lives.

The reception forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that citizens returning from difficult circumstances abroad receive the assistance they need to transition smoothly back into society.

The Ministry also used the occasion to renew its appeal to the public—particularly young people—to avoid the risks associated with irregular migration and unlawful travel. Officials stressed that unsafe migration routes often expose individuals to exploitation, insecurity, and other serious dangers.

Reaffirming its humanitarian mandate, the Ministry pledged to continue working with international partners to facilitate the voluntary return of Somaliland citizens and provide the care and support necessary for their successful reintegration.
