Officials from the Somaliland government, including the Ministers of Trade, Transport and Roads, and Planning, today participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction of the bridge connecting the two sides of the busy commercial town of Tog Wajaale.

The event brought together senior government officials, district authorities, business leaders, and members of the local community. A delegation from the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia also attended the ceremony, alongside the Ethiopian Ambassador to Sweden.
During the event, the ministers emphasized the strategic importance of the bridge in enhancing trade development and improving the movement of people and goods across the border. They noted that the project will significantly ease transport, reduce travel constraints, and boost commercial activity in Tog Wajaale and surrounding areas.
The reconstruction of the bridge is widely viewed as a key milestone in advancing economic growth, improving infrastructure, and strengthening social and economic ties between the two neighboring countries.
The project is funded by Sweden and implemented by Trade Mark Africa, and upon completion, it is expected to further enhance bilateral trade and regional connectivity.
