The Republic of  Somaliland Roads Development Agency has announced that the long-awaited Hargeisa-Baligubadle road project has reached an advanced stage, with construction now approaching 60% completion.

The project includes asphalt laying, road base grading, layering works, and the installation of comprehensive drainage systems along the route. Officials confirmed that the road is progressing steadily and is expected to be fully completed within this year, fulfilling one of the major infrastructure promises made by Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Cirro.

In a statement released today on the agency’s official page, the Roads Development Agency emphasized:

“The project, which is being implemented by the Roads Development Agency, is one of the promises made by the President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro. The plan is for the road to be fully completed this year.”

Meanwhile, during the weekly meeting of directors and department heads at the agency, chaired by Director General Mohamed Farah Abdi, progress reports were presented by the Directors of Transport and Technical Affairs following recent field supervision visits.

Under the current leadership, the Somaliland Roads Development Agency has demonstrated strong momentum in delivering road infrastructure projects across the country. In addition to the Hargeisa-Baligubadle road, preparations are underway for the groundbreaking ceremony of the World Bank-supported Borama-Lawyacado road project, which is expected to begin soon.

This development marks another significant step in Somaliland’s ongoing efforts to improve connectivity and boost economic activity through modern road networks.
