The President H.E. Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro made notable mini-reshuffle of his cabinet this week when he appointed the Hon. Barkhad Hirsi Jama Batuun as the new minister of Information, Culture and National Guidance in a move that touched on four ministries.

Hon. Barkhad Batuun replaces Ahmed Yasin Ayaanle who resigned the post a few months ago.

The decree included the appointment of new ministers, reshuffling of deputy ministers, and the designation of a Senior Advisor on Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Analysts say the changes are part of a broader reform agenda aimed at improving government efficiency, accountability, and service delivery.

Apart from Hon. Barkhad the others are the Ministers of Agriculture Development Hon. Adan Geedi Qayaad, Water Development Hon. Mohamed Abdimalik Ahmed and Communications and Technology Hon. Abdirizaq Hussein Awaale.

Several deputy ministers were also reassigned across key ministries.

Veteran scholarly don Dr. Mohamed Osman Fadal was appointed as Senior Presidential Advisor for Foreign Affairs, while Mr. Khadar Haji Yusuf Abdillahi was named a member of the national committee responsible for political associations and party registration.

The restructuring of the portfolios is seen as a strategic move to strengthen institutional performance, enhance diplomacy, and align government operations with evolving political, economic, and social priorities.

In related development, several directors general were swapped and numerous parastals got new board members.
