The Somaliland government has issued a strong warning to individuals involved in activities that threaten security in the western regions of Awdal and Selel, stating that strict legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to destabilize peace in the areas.
A top government delegation is in the regions led by the VP H.E. Mohamed Abdi aw Ali. It also includes Internal Security minister Hon. Abdalla.
Officials noted that while the government has prioritized protecting citizens during recent tensions, it is now prepared to enforce tougher measures. Security agencies have been instructed to act decisively against those inciting unrest, including banning armed movements and unauthorized armed vehicles.
The Minister of Youth and Sports stated that the government had exercised restraint but emphasized that the time had come for firm enforcement. The Minister of Defence, Mr. Mohamed Yusuf, confirmed that national forces have been ordered to take decisive action against any individuals undermining peace and security.
