Somaliland Hosts Hungarian Academic Delegation to Boost Research and Diplomatic Ties

The Director General of Somaliland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamed Abdulrahman Hassan, today, 1 February 2026, received a high-level delegation from Hungary focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in research, diplomacy, and African studies.

The visiting delegation included Dr. Zoltán Vörös, Senior Researcher at the John Lukacs Institute for Strategy and Politics at Ludovika University, and Prof. Dr. István Tarrósy, Professor of Political Science and African Studies and Director of the International Center at the University of Pécs.

Discussions centered on strengthening academic and research partnerships, with particular emphasis on advancing diplomatic engagement and expanding studies related to Africa. The meeting forms part of Somaliland’s ongoing efforts to broaden its international relations and build strategic ties with academic and policy institutions abroad.

Officials described the talks as constructive and expressed optimism about future collaboration in joint research projects and knowledge exchange initiatives.
