Republic of Somaliland’s Minister of Justice, Hon. Yoonis Ahmed Yoonis, today, 26th January 2026, led a high-level meeting focused on the finalization and rollout of the country’s National Policy on Preventing Extremism.
The session, held this morning, brought together key security and justice officials including the Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, the Custodial Corps Commander, and the Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Agency. They were joined by representatives from the United Kingdom Government Officials and the GIST agency.
Discussions centered on strengthening inter-agency coordination within Somaliland’s security and justice sectors, while deepening collaboration with international partners to effectively counter extremist ideologies.
Officials described the meeting as a critical step toward implementing a comprehensive national framework aimed at preventing radicalization, promoting community resilience, and safeguarding the Republic of Somaliland from violent extremist threats.
The National Policy on Preventing Extremism is expected to be formally launched in the coming weeks following the completion of final consultations and technical refinements.
