In a proud moment for education in the Horn of Africa, Noradin Schools proudly carried the flag of the Republic of Somaliland to the 34th World School Summit (WSS) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on January 24, 2026. This prestigious global gathering brought together innovative educators and school leaders from over 40 countries, turning the spotlight on the future of learning worldwide.
Leading the delegation were Mr. Mahad Ibrahim Mohamed, the visionary Founder and Chairman of Noradin Schools and Mr. Abdishakour Abdilahi Awale, Chief Engineer of the Noradin Schools Management System. For the first time in the summit’s history, Somaliland’s national flag—vibrant with its three colors and the powerful declaration of Tawheed—flew high at the venue, a striking symbol of resilience, national identity, and the nation’s growing commitment to educational excellence.
The highlight came during a thought-provoking high-level panel discussion on one of today’s hottest topics: “Is Artificial Intelligence a threat, a tool, or a teaching partner?” Mahad Ibrahim Mohamed took the stage as a featured panelist, delivering insights that blended caution with optimism and earned praise for their balanced, forward-thinking take on AI’s transformative role in classrooms.
Adding to the celebration, Mahad Ibrahim Mohamed received special recognition for his decades of dedication to education and leadership. He was honored with an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education conferred by Maryland State University, USA, during the summit’s awards ceremony—a testament to his impact not just in Somaliland but on the broader international education scene.
