President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro, who was flanked by his deputy Vice President Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, held his first meeting with the National Committee for the Investigation and Assessment of the recent incidents in Awdal Region, especially in Borame town.

The committee, appointed by the President on Saturday, has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive investigation and in-depth assessment, and providing policy recommendations to the government on the most appropriate solutions arising from its findings.

The President prayed for divine guidance for the committee in carrying out its demanding mandate and urged the members to perform their duties with responsibility, transparency, and integrity.

He instructed them to swiftly prepare a comprehensive report based strictly on factual evidence regarding the recent events in Borame.

The 23-member committee is deemed to be really independent, free from any external influence or interference, and is expected to submit its official findings and recommendations to the President within a short timeframe.
