Admiral Ahmed Hure Haariye, Commander of the Somaliland Coast Guard, held a high-level meeting today with Mr. James Tait, Deputy Defence Attaché at the British Office in Nairobi, and Mrs. Caitlin, a diplomat at the British Office in Hargeisa.
The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations and deepening operational collaboration between the Somaliland Coast Guard and the United Kingdom.
The UK delegation expressed appreciation for the engagement and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with Somaliland’s maritime forces and government institutions.
A key outcome of the meeting was the announcement of upcoming training programs tailored to coast guard operations, including specialized maritime security and response training to be conducted at sea.
Admiral Haariye was joined by senior officers, including Colonel Khadar Mohamed Aw Esse, First Commander of the Coast Guard; Colonel Ali Hassan, Second Commander; and Colonel Abdirahman Nuur Col-haye, Head of Coast Guard Operations.
The meeting underscores growing international support for Somaliland’s efforts to secure its extensive coastline and combat maritime threats, including illegal fishing, smuggling, and piracy.
