Admiral Hurre Leads Somaliland Coast Guard to Record 158 Training Sessions in Milestone Year

In a landmark achievement, Admiral Ahmed Hurre Haariye, Commander of the Somaliland Coast Guard, announced that the force conducted an impressive 158 training sessions over the past year, from October 2024 to October 2025.

Speaking at the 30th anniversary celebration of the Coast Guard’s establishment, Admiral Hurre highlighted the force’s robust operations, including 80 missions, 42 of which tackled illegal fishing, and 38 rescue operations saving 28 boats.

The ceremony, held at the Coast Guard Command Headquarters, was graced by Somaliland’s Vice President and Acting President, H.E. Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, alongside national and international dignitaries. Admiral Hurre emphasized the Coast Guard’s critical role in securing Somaliland’s 850 km coastline, enforcing maritime laws, and boosting the nation’s economy.

With 60 diverse training programs, including 6 abroad in Kenya and Seychelles, and support from EUCAP and UN ODC, Admiral Hurre’s leadership has significantly strengthened the Coast Guard’s capabilities, marking a pivotal year for maritime security in Somaliland.
