Borama – H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), the President of the Republic of Somaliland, on the third day of his working visit to the city of Borama, today officially launched the Borama Water Expansion Project.
Funded by the Somaliland Development Fund (SDF), this project is among the critical initiatives aimed at developing community services and improving the living infrastructure for the citizens of Boorama.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by government officials, representatives from the SDF, the Danish Representative to Somaliland, the Awdal Regional Administration, the Boorama District Council, traditional elders, and various segments of the community, all of whom were briefed on the project’s significant importance for the people.
The President stated that water is the backbone of development, health, and community life, and that this Water Expansion Project will greatly address the growing water needs of Boorama, which are increasing day by day.
The President also noted that the implementation of this landmark project demonstrates how the Government of National Unity is committed to delivering essential public services and promoting urban development across the country. He encouraged the citizens of Boorama to protect and make efficient use of the water resource service.
It is noteworthy that the President of the Republic of Somaliland officially announced yesterday (08.09.2025) that the price of water services in Boorama has been reduced from the previous 15,000 SHSL per cubic meter to 11,000 SHSL.
