The Minister of Finance and Economic Development of the Republic of Somaliland Hon. Abdillahi Hassan, alongside the Director General of the Ministry Mohamed and the Accountant General, hosted a high-level delegation from the World Bank at the Ministry’s headquarters in Hargeisa.
The delegation, led by World Bank Country Manager for Somaliland, Mr. Hideki Matsunaga, included Ms. Kaltun Mohamed Hassan, Country Manager for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Christoph Oberlack, an advisor from the ETC.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration to advance key development initiatives in Somaliland. Discussions centered on accelerating ongoing World Bank projects, finalizing preparations for six upcoming pipeline projects, improving accounting systems for project management, and ensuring Somaliland secures its fair share of World Bank funding.
Mr. Matsunaga praised the Somaliland government for its steadfast commitment and effective partnership, emphasizing the World Bank’s dedication to supporting the nation’s development goals. “We are impressed by Somaliland’s proactive approach and look forward to deepening our collaboration to ensure these projects deliver tangible benefits,” he stated.
The talks concluded with both parties expressing optimism about the future of their partnership, reaffirming their commitment to the successful implementation of development projects that will drive economic growth and improve livelihoods across Somaliland.
