In a significant milestone for Somaliland’s military leadership, two senior officers of the Somaliland National Army, Lieutenant Colonel Kamal Ismail Ali and Lieutenant Colonel Mowlid Ali Mohammed, have successfully graduated from the 15th Regular Course of Ethiopia’s esteemed Defense Command and Staff College in Addis Ababa. The graduation ceremony, attended by high-ranking officials, diplomats, and military leaders, underscores Somaliland’s growing reputation in regional military cooperation and capacity building.
Major General Nimcan Yusuf Gaxnug, Commander of the Somaliland National Armed Forces, congratulated the officers, emphasizing that their achievement reflects the advanced expertise and preparedness of Somaliland’s military. “This graduation signifies our ongoing efforts to strengthen the capabilities of the Somaliland Armed Forces,” Commander Nimcan stated, highlighting the strategic importance of such training since his appointment as Chief of Staff.
The ceremony, graced by Ethiopian National Defense Force Chief, Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, celebrated graduates from seven African nations. Field Marshal Birhanu awarded certificates and emphasized Ethiopia’s commitment to fostering a modern, tactically sophisticated defense force through regional partnerships. Somaliland’s delegation included Colonel Ahmed Aidid Omar, Head of the Officers Department, and Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Mohamoud Isak, Assistant Chief of Staff, reinforcing the nation’s dedication to professional military development.
