The 2025 Grade 8 certificate examinations in Somaliland concluded successfully today, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s education system. The closing ceremony, held in Borama, Awdal Region, was led by the Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Ismail Ducale Yusuf, who officially declared the examinations complete.
The event was attended by key regional figures, including Awdal Governor Mohamed Ahmed Igge, Borama Mayor Mahmoud Sh. Ibrahim Muse, and Awdal Regional Education Chairman Hussein Ateye Farid. Minister Yusuf commended the dedication of officials, educators, and staff who ensured the examinations ran smoothly, while extending his best wishes to the students for outstanding results.
In a parallel ceremony in Berbera, Saahil Region, State Minister of Education and Science, Mohamed Yusuf Ibrahim, also marked the closure of the examinations. The Chairman of the National Examinations Office, Daud Ahmed Farah, alongside Marodi-jeh Education Chairman Mohamed Hussein, confirmed the peaceful completion of the exams nationwide. “On June 24, 2025, the Grade 8 certificate examinations concluded successfully across Somaliland with no disruptions,” Daud announced to the media.
This achievement reflects the collective efforts of the Ministry of Education and the commitment of students nationwide. The Somaliland government and education officials expressed optimism for the students’ success, with hopes that their hard work will pave the way for a bright future.
“May Allah bless the students’ efforts and grant them success,” the Minister stated in a closing remark. Results are expected to be announced in the coming months, as the nation awaits the outcomes of this critical academic milestone.
