In a significant boost to Somaliland’s development efforts, the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr. Abdillahi Hasan Aden, joined by Mr. Mohamed Hasan Saleebaan, Director General of the Ministry of Finance, hosted a high-level delegation from Germany, led by Mr. Felix Volkmar, Manager of KfW for East African countries, at the Ministry’s offices in Hargeisa.
The delegation formalized a new agreement with Somaliland, funded by the German government, to advance critical sectors including agriculture, water, and environmental sustainability. The agreement, signed by Minister Abdillahi Hasan Aden, the Minister of Agricultural Development, and KfW representatives, will prioritize the completion of a vital water expansion project in Hargeisa, enhancing access to clean water for the capital’s residents.
Expressing deep appreciation, Minister Abdillahi lauded Germany’s consistent support for Somaliland’s development goals, particularly in water infrastructure, agriculture, and environmental conservation. “We are grateful for Germany’s partnership, which aligns closely with our vision for progress,” he said. Representing the Somaliland government, the Minister committed to diligently implementing and completing the projects, while emphasizing Somaliland’s dedication to deepening ties with Germany.
This agreement marks a milestone in Somaliland’s pursuit of sustainable development, promising transformative impacts on its capital’s water supply and broader agricultural and environmental initiatives.
