The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Somaliland, Prof. Ismail Duale Yusuf, today officially declared that the national certificate examinations for Grade 8 (primary) and Grade 12 (secondary) students for the 2024-2025 academic year will commence on June 21, 2025, pending divine will.
In a formal announcement ceremony, the Director General of the Ministry, Abdirahman Hussein H. Hirsi, expressed pride in the completion of preparations for the upcoming exams, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and fair examination process for all students.
Daud Ahmed Farah, Chairman of the Somaliland National Examinations Office, addressed students and parents during the event, emphasizing that the examinations are designed to assess students’ knowledge rather than intimidate them. “Exams are not a tool to pressure students but a way to gauge the knowledge they have acquired throughout their education,” Farah stated, encouraging students to approach the tests with confidence.
Education officials extended their best wishes for success to all Grade 8 and Grade 12 students set to participate in the examinations. The announcement marks a significant milestone in Somaliland’s academic calendar, as thousands of students prepare to take these critical assessments that will shape their educational and professional futures.
