The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development hosted the third meeting of the National Economic Development Committee of the Council of Ministers, focusing on strategies to advance Somaliland’s economic growth. Chaired by Finance Minister Hon. Abdillahi Hassan Aden, the meeting featured in-depth discussions and reports on key economic priorities.

The committee addressed critical issues, including challenges to national production, investment and industrial development, and the state of livestock rearing. A key focus was reducing Somaliland’s reliance on imports by boosting domestic production and addressing the outflow of hard currency. The meeting also explored ways to enhance the technical skills of workers in agriculture and livestock sectors.

This meeting is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Somaliland’s economy, supported by a ministerial-level committee and technical sub-committees under the leadership of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. The ministry’s mandate has recently been expanded to include economic development, reflecting its commitment to fostering Somaliland’s emerging economy.

The outcomes of the meeting are expected to guide policy formulation and drive sustainable economic progress in the nation.
