On the 34th anniversary of the restoration of Somaliland’s independence, celebrated on May 18, 2025, the Somaliland National Army showcased significant advancements in morale, leadership, light and heavy weaponry, and uniforms.
The morale of the National Army during this occasion was exceptionally high, driven by several key factors. Soldiers displayed strong enthusiasm and confidence, evident in their disciplined formations and the unity among various units during the parade, signifying their role as a proud and secure force. Positive interactions between soldiers and officers highlighted strong bonds and mutual respect. The introduction of new weapons and advanced technology further boosted the soldiers’ confidence, as they felt well-equipped and prepared for any challenges. Overall, the high morale reflected effective leadership, rigorous training, and robust support for the National Army.
The National Army also demonstrated notable progress in its leadership, introducing a modern and efficient command structure in a short period. The various units participating in the ceremonial parade wore new types of uniforms, and all light weapons displayed were modern. Additionally, the heavy weaponry showcased was unprecedented in Somaliland’s public squares, reflecting significant technological advancements and enhanced combat capabilities.
Similarly, the Police, Correctional Services, Coast Guard, and Fire Brigade exhibited distinct improvements compared to previous years.
