Kenyan and Djibouti dignitaries’ jet into the country to celebrate 18th May with Somalilanders

Dignitaries from Kenya and Djibouti jetted into the country on Saturday to join Somalilanders on the occasion the 18th May anniversary of the re-assertion of the nation’s sovereign independence which the was earned from the colonial British Empire on the 26th of June 2025.

They consisted of senators and parliamentarians, amongst other officials.

Amongst them is prominent Migori Women Rep Fatuma Mohamed Egge, Fatuma-Zainab, popularly known in Kenyan political circles as Fatuma Network, whose lineage is Somalilander.

This year’s celebration has been marked in a more profound manner that is quite different for the past years.

This time round, the celebrations has been on for three whole weeks prior to the D-Day hence has been more marked in schools and public squares, gardens and sportsgrounds in all cities and towns across the country.

Intensity and extensive nature of the functions held within the country and abroad has been more profound and quite marked.

Kenya and Djibouti are amongst nations that have representative consulates in the country.
