Led by President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro), the inclusive and results-oriented government is committed to respecting and supporting journalists and media institutions across the country.
The Ministry of Information collaborates effectively with media organizations to ensure press independence. As a ministry, we acknowledge the significant role the country’s media has played in peacebuilding, state-building, and the various stages the Republic of Somaliland has navigated over the past 34 years.
We urge the nation’s media to perform their vital public service with patriotism and a commitment to defending Somaliland’s nationhood. As the country strives for international recognition, the press has a responsibility to strengthen unity, stability, and the noble values of the Somaliland people.
According to the Director General of Information, Abdisalaan Maxamuud Ducaale (Ilkacase), the Ministry will work closely with media organizations to promote press freedom.
