General Manager, Hargeisa Water Agency Mohamed Darood had extensive and productive discussions with a delegation led by Simon Hagemann, Head of Cooperation at the German Embassy, Nairobi kenya and Henrike Klau-Panhans, KfW Office Director for the Regional Office Horn of Africa.

Statement GM Darod published on the FB of the Agency added, “The discussions focused on the soon-to-be-finalized Water Supply & Basic Sanitation Project, financed by the German Government through KfW, as well as the recently announced project, Climate-Resilient Water Resource Management and Service Delivery for Hargeisa.

The Water Supply & Basic Sanitation Project has made significant progress, establishing 166 km of pipe network, constructing four large reservoirs across various districts in Hargeisa—more than doubling the city’s existing reservoir capacity—and installing over 100 water kiosks to serve the most vulnerable communities, including internally displaced persons (IDPs). Additionally, a faecal sludge treatment plant will be constructed for the Hargeisa Municipality.

The newly announced climate-resilient water resource management project by KfW will further strengthen the development and sustainability of Hargeisa’s water infrastructure.

As Hargeisa continues its rapid expansion, the #Hargeisa Water Agency remains committed to modernizing the city’s water infrastructure and attracting more partnerships and investments to meet the growing demand for safe and reliable water supply.
