The directive by the President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilaahi Irro of consolidating the treasury funds to a central account, as per the National Revenue Unification Plan (NRUP), has been executed following his instructions to the aviation ministry earlier in the month.

Prior to this the funds received from the airport were never received by the treasury directly.

This development was highlighted during the 7th session of the cabinet meeting on Thursday 23rd January 2025 at the Presidency which was chaired by the Head of State himself while flanked by his deputy, the VP H.E. Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, held at the Presidency.

Various ministers gave briefs on specific issues undertaken by their respective ministries that were highlighted at the session.

According to a presser by the Presidential Spokesman Hussein Adam Ige, the main agendas included important and priority issues for the country and the people.

First, the Council heard a report from the Minister of Internal Affairs and National Security, who said that the general situation in the country was stable and quite peaceful.

The Minister of Finance and Economic Development briefed the Council on the country’s economic situation, acceleration of tax collections and increasing the country’s income.

While discussing the implementation of the National Revenue Unification Plan, the finance minister commended the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airport Development for transferring the various revenues it collected from January 1st, 2025.

In addition, the Ministry of Aviation has implemented a mechanism that enables the Ministry of Finance to monitor data on airport revenue collection services, making airport revenues more transparent.

The following are the issues that were pondered on:

  1. On the issues pertaining to temporary employees of ministries and government agencies, the President has appointed a Ministerial Committee consisting of six ministers to find a solution.
  2. A report on the National Defense and the plans of the Ministry of Defense presented to the House by the Minister of Defense and National Defense.
  3. A report on the laws passed by the previous administration and the draft laws before the House of Representatives was presented by the Minister of Assemblies Relations and Constitutional Affairs.
  4. The report of the Ministry of Investment and Industrial Development presented by the Minister of Investment and Industrial Development regarding the inspection of the country’s industries.
  5. The report of the Ministry of Health Development and the working trips that the Minister undertook to the regions of the country to observe the needs of the health service in the country as a whole, especially the situation of the hospitals in the country.
  6. The report on the educational situation in the country, the basic needs, the National Education Policy and the trips of the Minister of Education to the Saahil and Togdeer regions.
