The Somaliland House of Representatives yesterday gave a vote of confidence on the second consecutive day to approve all the members of cabinet newly appointed by the Head of State, H.E. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro.
The new appointees have all been voted resoundingly and unanimously with all the MPs present in both sessions. They were earlier vetted as per constitution by the applicable parliamentary select committee.
Initially a batch of 19 ministers was on Monday given a vote of confidence and the following day saw the remaining 29 sail through.
The total number of ministers approved by the council is 48 members, including state and deputy ministers.
They are now waiting to be administered with the official oaths of office.
The approved ministers include the Minister of Information, Culture and National Guidance Hon. Ahmed-Yasiin Sh. Ali Ayaanle, who received 65 votes, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Abdirahman Dahir Aden, who received 59 votes.
The Minister of Defense, Hon. Mohamed Yusuf Ali (Ilka’ase), received 62 votes, the Minister of the Presidency, Hon. Khadar Hussein Abdi, also received 65 votes, and 64 members approved Hon. Hassan Ahmed Duale (Maalin) to be the Minister of Local Government and Urban Development.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Farah Oofle, the Minister of Communications and Technology, Hon. Jamaal Mohamed Jama, the Minister of Transport and Roads Development, Hon. Osman Ibrahim (Af-gaab), and the Minister of Planning Hon. Kaltuun Sh. Hassan Abdi Madar, also received 65 votes each.
The Ministers of Information and Justice of the Republic of Somaliland, speaking on behalf of the officials who were given the vote of confidence, thanked the House of Representatives.
