The Minister of Aviation, Space and Airports Development of Somaliland, Hon. Fu’aad Ahmed Nur, said that the state is pursuing a plan to restore the airspace authority, with the help of legal assistance.
He also noted that they are in the process of seeking international legal assistance, to facilitate the path they take to restore the airspace of Somaliland.
On the other hand, he indicated that they plan to do a great deal as a ministry in the reconstruction of the country’s airports.
He said, “When it comes to airspace authority, there is a dispute between us and Somalia, and our plan is to restore the airspace authority of Somaliland”.
He added, “We will take control of our airspace through a legal process, and our plan is to seek international legal assistance, which is how we will take control of our airspace, whether it is air traffic management or any air services.”
The minister noted that the plan includes how to build and develop airports in the country.
He said, “Our plan is to upgrade the country’s airports, such as Burao, Berbera, Erigavo, Borama, Zeyla and Kala-bayd, and any airport that we need to establish, we will”.
