The Minister of the Ministry of Internal Security of Somaliland, Hon. Abdalle Mohamed Arab, held crucial meeting with the Ambassador of the Government of Ethiopia to the Republic of Somaliland, Ambassador Teshome Shunde Hamito.
The meeting which also doubled as a courtesy introductory call since the new minister has just assumed office, they both took the opportunity to ponder on the skirmishes across the border that has seen a spate of deaths and injuries occur that pitted local Liyuu Police of Somali State of Ethiopia against the local residents of Da’awaley.
Their discussions mainly dwelt on the need of bolstering security and strengthening its cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Somaliland and the Federal Government of Ethiopia.
It was decided and agreed to peacefully resolve the issue that occurred in the Da’awaley area.
They were both in agreement that anything that undermines or threatens the peaceful coexistence between the two countries should not be entertained at all.
Meanwhile, the Interior minister met with the British diplomat to the Republic of Somaliland, Ambassador Ilyas Maahir.
The meeting, which was held at the interior ministry Headquarters was reportedly a basic introductory courtesy call.
The Ambassador thanked the Minister for the reception and hospitality extended to him while the Minister thanked the Ambassador for his visit.
The Minister and the Ambassador discussed the relations between the two countries, which are long-standing, and also discussed the cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Security and the Office of the British Ambassador.
They also discussed the general security of the Republic of Somaliland and the region at large.
