Premier Abiy thanked former President Sahle-Work Zewde, as H.E. Taye Atske-Selassie sworn new President

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed thanked former president Sahle-Work Zewde on behalf of the Ethiopian government for serving the nation as president for the past six years.

The Prime Minister attended the joint opening session of the House of Federation and House of People’s Representatives today, where the House endorsed the nomination of Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie for the Presidency.

On the occasion, Taye Atske-Selassie, who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, was sworn in as the new president of the country this afternoon.

Prime Minister Abiy said in his social media post that one of the objectives of the country’s reform works is to strengthen rule of law, and officials will discharge their responsibilities when they are given them by law.

Others, in their turn, will replace them and achieve national goals through generations and this is how nation building can be achieved, the premier stated.

Expressing his gratitude to the former president Sahle-Work for her service since 2018, PM Abiy extended best wishes to the newly elected president Taye Atske-Selassie during his tenure at the helm.
