President UN representatives, discuss strengthening humanitarian aid cooperation

The President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Musa Bihi Abdi received the Deputy Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations, who is also the area Office for the Coordinator of Humanitarian Aid, Mr. George Conway together with the top leaders of ten United Nations agencies on Thursday.

According to a press release from the Presidency, the meeting discussed on how to strengthen the development of the aid that the United Nations support in Somaliland and the acceleration of cooperation thereof, especially in the field of humanitarian affairs planned for this year, in accordance with Somaliland and international laws.

The President also urged the heads of the various Ministries of the country and United Nations agencies to work in harmony within the stipulated regulations.

He was flanked at the meeting by the Minister Employment, Social Affairs and Family, Honorable Ali Omar Mohamed (Ali Hoor-hoor) and the minister of National Planning and Development Hon. Ahmed Mohamed Diriye (Toorno).

Also present were the Chairman of the National Agency for Refugees and Displaced Persons Mr. Abdikarim Ahmed Mohamed (Hinif), the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Somaliland Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi and the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mr. Ahmed Abokor Mohamed.

The visiting delegation led by the Deputy Head of the United Nations George Conway include Mr. Crispen Rukasha Representative of OCHA included Mr. Ruger Kahwa, Head of Office of OCHA, Mr. Wafa Saeed, UNICEF Representative, Mr. El-Khidir Daloum Mahmoud, Representative of WFP, Mr. Frantz Celestin, IOM rep Mr. Charles Mballa, UNHCR Representative, Mr. Abdoul Karim Bah, Head of the FAO Office, Ms. Anna Maria Adhikari Special Assistant to DSRSG/RC/HC, Mr. Nikolai Rogosaroff who is head of UNSOM and Abdi Askar from Hargeisa office.
