The President H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi received the new Ambassador of Denmark, H.E. Steen Sonne Andersen at the Presidency on Tuesday 29th November 2022.
This being a maiden visit of the diplomat to the country, the Head of State gave the ambassador a re-cap of the general situation of the country in various aspects.
A press release from the Presidency noted that they discussed the progress the country made since it re-asserted its independence, more so, the transition to the electioneering process of democracy that has made the country a household name in the eyes of the world.
The President emphasized how peaceful stability and security are cherished in the country, attributing it to the appreciated collaboration between the populaces and the state.
He pointed out the readiness of concerted efforts in holding elections, given that the nation’s democratic electioneering processes have been hailed far and wide as surpassing African countries and many more in the rest of the world.
The meeting also pondered on how to increase cooperation between the two countries in the field of socio-economic development.
The Danish delegation on their part expressed their gratitude for the cordial reception extended to them hence lauding and congratulating the people of Somaliland and their government on the vast progress they have made in every aspect.
The President was flanked by Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Hon. Dr Isse Keyd Mohamud, while the ambassador was accompanied by his deputy, Ms. Gertrud Birk and the representative of Denmark in Somaliland.
