THT- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Essa Kayd Mohamoud, & leading delegation has participated with the Somaliland community in UK the 18 May commemoration ceremony event.
Celebrations to mark Somaliland National Day on May 18 were held in Kenya and the United Kingdom.
Minister Keyd met with members of the British Parliament and thanked them for attending the 31st anniversary celebrations of the Republic of Somaliland on 18 May.
Parliamentarian Ruth Jones, speaking at a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr Jesus, said:
was a pleasure to meet Dr. Essa Kayd yesterday alongside colleagues in Parliament to mark Somaliland Independence Day.
MP Jones added, Newport is home to the second-largest Somaliland community in Wales and I’m proud to represent them in Westminster.
Ayaan Mohamoud Cashur, the former ambassador of Somaliland to the UK, praised the government delegation for attending the May 18th commemoration in the UK, and tweeted,

Meanwhile, the embassy of the Republic of Somaliland in Kenya held a ceremony last night to mark the 18th of May.
At the event, which was attended by Somalilanders living in Kenya, other invited guests spoke about the history of 18 May and the struggle for independence.
The event was addressed by members of the Kenyan parliament and Somaliland politicians who all applauded the 18th of May commemorations and wished the people of Somaliland success and development.
Ambassador Dr Mohamed Ahmed Mohamoud said that the Somaliland community expressed their love for their country, thanked the guests for their participation, and tweeted, “Last night the people of Somaliland showed their feeling and national commitment of Somaliland. Thanks to all participants attended on 18 May both Somalilanders and other guests here in Nairobi.
